Nordland Hospital, Bodø Norway

Nordland Hospital serves the whole county of Nordland in Northern Norway and comprises both general and psychiatric services. The psychiatric section consists of hospital wards for both child/adolescent and adult patients with psychiatric disorders. It serves a population of 238,988. In addition to the main hospital, there is a district psychiatric centre called Salten District Psychiatric Centre which is situated within the main hospital. It serves the local population of over 79.000 inhabitants, living in 12 municipalities. Salten District Psychiatric Centre comprises of 2 hospital wards (sub acute and short stay), 2 outpatient clinics and several outreach teams on specific themes Early Intervention, Rehabilitation, Crisis Interventions and Substance Abuse. The Department of Training and Development runs extensive training for psychiatrists, social workers and nurses both from the hospital and throughout northern Norway. The Department also has a very active research department in both general medicine and mental health and was responsible for dissemination of EU-funded projects such as OSCAR (QLG4-CT-2001-01476) & EMILIA (CIT3-CT-2005-513435) as well as developing specific Emilia training modules that have been used throughout Europe.

Role of Nordland Hospital



Nordland Hospital is the coordinator of work package 2 "Design of the Training Programme" which also includes mapping existing organisational services for children and families of a mentally ill parent.



In addition to this Nordland Hospital will be actively involved in all other acitiviteties of the project.
